Job Purpose:
The Lawrence Music Clubhouse Music Instructor works alongside a team of music instructors to carry out a comprehensive music curriculum in which youth, ages 10-18, are taught guitar, drums, piano, vocals, and studio production with the end goal of completing live ensemble performances and recordings. The Lawrence Music Clubhouse provides hands on instrument and performance experience to youth who otherwise would not have access to such disciplines and resources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently instruct classes of 3-6 youth in at least one of the following disciplines: (guitar, drums, vocals, piano, studio production, performance ensemble)
- Develop innovative curriculum and music instruction techniques.
- Lead youth ensembles in carrying out live performances and or studio recordings
- Set up and break down musical equipment
- Management of student behaviors
Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum of high school diploma required
- Specialized knowledge: Music education, music theory, studio production
- Skills: classroom behavior management
- Abilities: Proficiency in at least one of the following disciplines: guitar, drums, vocals, piano, studio production.
- Professional Certification: Music related Bachelors or Masters Degrees are a plus
- Experience: Must have prior experience working with youth
Reports to: Lawrence Music Clubhouse Director
Working conditions: The Lawrence Music Clubhouse Public School Music Enrichment Program requires instructors to be available from 8am-3pm on one or more of the weekdays (Mon-Fri).
Physical requirements: Instructors are required to be able to lift and move musical equipment such as Amplifiers, P.A. Systems, and Electric keyboards.
