Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic will perform a variety of semi-skilled manual work in the maintenance and janitorial fields for the Andover/North Andover Branch in the interior and exterior of all Merrimack Valley YMCA properties.  The successful candidate must have general knowledge in the areas of Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, Custodial and HVAC fields as well as other general maintenance duties required to insure the safe, clean and efficient operation of the facility.  Ice and snow removal as well as other emergency and safety protocols will be required.  Must have the ability to drive to other YMCA sites and locations as needed.

This position is full time and is eligible for the Y’s comprehensive benefit package which includes health, dental, life insurance, retirement contributions  and paid time off.

Status: Full Time

• Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Must be able to work flexible schedule at times and be able to take on-call responsibilities in rotation with other members of maintenance staff.
• Must have good interpersonal qualities to deal with the public, staff and outside agencies.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance and walk/stand for seven hours to perform assigned tasks during shift.
• Experience in trades and/or basic knowledge of Building, Carpentry, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing.
• Previous facility maintenance experience and/or pool operations are a plus.
