In celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, the Boston Bruins Foundation joined forces with the Merrimack Valley YMCA to participate in Champion Her Game Girls in Sports Week! At the Lawrence YMCA, former Boston Bruins players Bob Sweeney and Andrew Raycroft, alongside members of the Boston Professional Women’s Hockey team Theresa Schafzahl and Loren Gabel, made a special visit.
National Women and Girls in Sports Day aims to inspire girls and women to embrace sports and physical activity, empowering them to unleash their full potential. At the Lawrence YMCA, young girls had the opportunity to learn about healthy lifestyle habits, proper nutrition, and mental wellness, followed by an exciting street hockey clinic.
The Lawrence YMCA proudly welcomes over 200 youths to its vibrant after-school programs. The Y’s initiatives encompass a wide spectrum of activities, all geared toward nurturing the potential of young participants.
From dedicated support for academic achievement, and bridging any existing gaps, to instilling a spirit of giving back through volunteering, Lawrence YMCA programs are designed to shape well-rounded individuals. Additionally, they offer avenues for teens to explore and express their creativity, such as their Music Clubhouse and the dynamic Summer Connect program.
The Merrimack Valley YMCA takes pride in its commitment to inspiring and challenging the youth in our community, as we believe in the transformative power of positive engagement and meaningful connections. Join the Y as they continue to ignite passions and unlock the potential of each young individual who walks through their doors at the Lawrence YMCA.
