School Age Child Care Director

The School Age Child Care Director (SACC) is a part of the staff management team at the Andover/North Andover Branch of the Merrimack Valley YMCA. Working with the interest of the of the total association, the SACC Director is responsible for supervising and coordinating all staff, programs and facilities within his/ her area of responsibility including supervision of School Age Program at YMCA.

Working with the interest of the of the total association, the SACC Director is responsible for supervising and coordinating all staff, programs and facilities within his/her area of responsibility including supervision of School Age Program at YMCA. He/she is responsible for insuring compliance with state and local requirements for the school age program. The SACC Director is accountable for the budget development and implementations; staff recruitment, training and evaluation and all contracts related to the School Age Program. The SACC Director will take lead responsibility at the site for the implementation of the statewide Quality Rating and Improvement System, a method to assess, improve and communicate the level of quality in early education and after- school settings. The SACC Director must represent the YMCA personally, professionally and in a manner in accordance with the mission and goals of the YMCA. The SACC Director is a role model for staff, program families, students and members.  The director will help champion a culture of service excellence and support and advocate the mission and values of the YMCA.

• A degree in elementary education is preferred. The incumbent must have experience as a school age child care director.
• Knowledgeable in the field of school age child care and youth development.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as effective leadership qualities.
• The candidate must be at least 21 years of age and must meet/ exceed all of the requirements of a school age director set forth by the State of Massachusetts Early Education and Care Department.

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Responsible for all school age programming at Andover/North Andover YMCA.
• Responsible for school age staff development and training opportunities for educators.
• Maintain the overall cleanliness and appearance of the Child Care Office/Classrooms.
• Keep safety as a first priority. Emphasize personal safety and emotional well being of all staff, volunteers, members, students, families and program participants using the YMCA classrooms and indoor/ facility.
• By personal example help interpret quality of YMCA Character Values or Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
• Reports all accidents/unusual incidents immediately to the Association Director of Child Care Services  with all necessary documentation.
• Accept and perform all other responsibilities necessary for the good of the organization.
• Performs other duties as required by supervisor (remains flexible).

• Ensure family satisfaction by daily in person communication as well as phone calls and written communication as necessary.
• Initiate and represent a high quality of service and connectedness with all members, participants, volunteers child care families and potential members / child care families in the child care classrooms and throughout the YMCA.
• Be knowledgeable about various YMCA programs and events information.
• Be available to members, program participants and staff for questions, concerns, comments and follow up as needed.

• Growth and high retention of participants/ families who understand the YMCA Mission and Goals.
• High quality programming in YMCA Child Care Classrooms
• Maintain and implement an effective, quality school age department that meets community needs in a manner that is consistent with the YMCA mission.
• Maintain and develop able staff and volunteers in an environment in which they can grow and reach their full potential to ensure stability and continuity within the organization.
• Staff, volunteers, children and members will be developed through age-appropriate activities and students will be prepared to attain their highest social, emotional and academic growth to prepare them to be successful in a public/ private school setting.
• Actively promote membership of the entire association to increase strong community relationships to promote the YMCA as one of the finest human care organizations in our community.
