The past several months have been difficult for all of our communities as we suffer through the COVID-19 pandemic. This public health crisis has exposed many frailties and inequalities in our society as the most vulnerable in our communities have been disproportionally impacted. In addition, the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and so many others who died as a consequence of violence against people of color have made many of us angry, frustrated, sad and demanding change.
The Merrimack Valley YMCA is committed to work even harder with our staff, volunteers, members, and the communities we serve to erase racism, inequities and disparities that exist. We will continue to strengthen community through healthy living, youth development and social responsibility for ALL. As we have in the past, the Merrimack Valley YMCA will develop the next generation of CHANGEMAKERS that will build communities where we ALL want to live. We must do better.
We invite you to join us in our efforts. The Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility will continue to guide us as we navigate the challenges our communities face. Let us not remain silent in words and actions as we work to create a more equitable community where ALL can learn, grow, and thrive.
