The Andover/North Andover YMCA Synchronized Swim Team (ANA Synchro) earned top places in the 2019 Synchro America Open this spring. This meet, which is part of the FINA Artistic Swimming World Series, featured synchronized swimmers from around the world.

ANA Synchro took 1^st place in the Junior Tech Team event. Members of the Junior Tech Team include Kyra Donahue, Mia Hayes, Olivia Malloy, Reverie Nedde, Ysabella Ouyang, Sofia Puchniak, Nina Robbe, Ella Sharon, Nour Shamala, and Lakshita Motwani.

ANA Synchro also earned 2^nd place medals in Junior Free Solo and Junior Free Duet. In the Senior division, ANA Synchro earned 3rd place in Senior Combo. Teams in the Junior division competed against teams from across the country and Senior division teams competed with other teams from around the world. ANA Synchro Head Coach Leah Pinette says she is proud of all of the athletes who came into this competition with routines that were technically challenging and artistically innovative.

“The athletes continue to work hard to perfect routines with increased levels of difficulty and technique,” said Pinette. “It was a pleasure to prepare these athletes for this competition and we can see that their hard work certainly paid off.”

The event, which was the sixth event in the FINA Artistic Swimming World series, was held in Greensboro, NC from May 24-26^th. This showcase of the best domestic and international swimmers is the only one of the series that is held in the United States. ANA Synchro will compete next in the Junior Olympic Championships event in Tonawanda, NY on June 29 – July 6.
