Celebration was in the air at the Lawrence YMCA on Thursday, May 9, 2019 as 35 middle school students were honored for their hard work in the Adelante program. The students were joined by their parents, as well as teachers and volunteers with the program, which helps middle school students prepare for and apply to private high schools. Adelante also offers scholarships and helps students navigate the scholarship application process at the schools. This year, every student was admitted to a school in their top three choices.

Congratulations to our 2018-19 Adelante Scholars!

The students gained the skills they needed to go through the admissions process, but also learned about teamwork, leadership, and to be proud of their city. They took field trips to historic sites throughout Lawrence and also visited the Lawrence Public Library and the Lawrence Senior Center, connecting with the places and people in their community in a new and meaningful way.
