The LIVESTRONG LIVEWELL event at the Andover/North Andover Branch was a huge success! The event, which was organized to raise funds for the Annual Campaign in support of the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Program, had a goal of $10,000 and actually raised $11,110.
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a 12-week program offered at no cost to cancer survivors and their families to improve functional capacity and increase quality of life in their survivorship journey. Last year, 35 cancer survivors and their families participated in three sessions of LIVESTRONG at the Andover/North Andover YMCA, providing them with a welcoming environment, a sense of belonging and a supportive community. Money raised from this event will go to fund more sessions of LIVESTRONG at the Y – helping us to continue to offer this program to a growing population of cancer survivors and their families.
There was great energy in the building and 155 participants at this year’s LIVESTRONG LIVEWELL event, which is more than double the number of participants that we had last year. Nearly 50 staff members and volunteers helped make the event a success. Activities included an Indoor Triathalon, An Octagon Relay, Special Classes, and a Bench Press Competition. There were two event sponsors and seven vendors that were a part of the event as well.
