We believe our community is stronger when everyone feels welcome and we work together for the common good. Celebrated annually at the YMCA, Welcoming Week is a chance for neighbors—both immigrants and U.S.-born residents—to get to know one another and celebrate what unites us as a community. Welcoming Week activities will take place at all of our branches and are Free and open to the public. Below is the this of events happening all week long throughout our branches.

Friday September 13th Flick + Float 6p in Teaching Pool. Movie playing is Pixar’s Coco. Parents must accompany children under 7 in the pool.
Saturday September 14th: Back to School Bash. Bring your friends and have some fun at the Y from 11a-2p. So much fun to be had! For this action packed event, bring you bathing suit, towels and sneakers. If you’re not a member of the YMCA, please bring a valid ID to present at check in.
Sunday September 15th: Learn to Synchro. Bring your bathing suits and every performance that inspired you from the Olympics. All abilities, including adaptive and inclusive athletes-to-be are welcome to try this international sport.
Wednesday September 18th 10:15a Join us for a Welcoming Week themed Stories and Sillies for ages 5 and under in the Active Science room. This class will read age appropriate books while squirming around.
Friday September 20th 6-8 pm Women’s only Swim: in Teaching Pool. A women’s-only swim designed to be culturally inclusive. This open swim session will take into account diverse needs and preferences while fostering a welcoming environment.
Saturday September 21st 10:15a Join us for a Welcoming Week themed Stories and Sillies for ages 5 and under in the Active Science room. This class will read age appropriate books while squirming around.
Sunday September 22nd 7-9a Learn to Badminton. Come try the sport, bring a guest into the Y for free, drop in and play.
Sunday September 22nd 3p Family Movie Showing of Disney’s Rise & Family Open Basketball. Light Refreshments Provided.

Welcoming Week, founded by Welcoming America, is an annual celebration bringing together thousands of people and hundreds of local events that celebrate the contributions of immigrants and refugees and the role communities play to foster greater welcome. Welcoming Week is Sept. 8-17 across the country and now expanding to other parts of the world.
